Jeff Moorman, the principal operating partner, is the son of a Fiberglass boat building pioneer Roger Moorman. In 1956 Roger designed and built arguably the first production self rescue fiberglass sailboat in The United States, the MOBJACK. Following the success of his first design, He partnered with Olympic sailor Harry Sindle, together they designed and built several dingys. In 1964, Mobjack Manufacturing joined Newport Boats, eventually growing a factory that built not only his designs, but others including Carter Pyle’s P-Cat and Kite along with the Moorman/Pyle/Sindle Skipjack 15.

Sailing by the age of five, Jeff continued learning through the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Racing Association (CBYRA) Junior Sailing Program. Crewing on many of the boats his father was building. Laser racing in the early ’70s led to NACRA catamaran competition in the ’80s. Jeff joined his first offshore delivery in 1988 on a Passport 40 coming back to Annapolis following the Annapolis Bermuda Race. The following January he sailed his Morgan 43 from Annapolis to St Thomas, USVI. Jeff earned his 1st Coast Guard ticket that Spring and went to work for the Moorings Crewed Yacht division in Road Town Tortola. The ensuing years featured jobs (!) skippering an IRWIN 65 charter boat, a custom S&S 66′ sloop built by Sunward Yachts, and a brief stint on a 68′ Halmatic motor yacht. After rejoining his other career, film and video television production – as a freelance cameraman, Jeff continued to deliver vessels and stay current in marine technology. In 1999 he purchased a 1972 Nicholson 35 and undertook a complete refit including removing the Perkins Hydraulic Drive and installing a Volvo MD 2030 with a Saildrive.

Jeff sold the Nicholson in 2013. Last report she was in Hawaii after a trip to the South Pacific.

In 2008 Jeff turned full time to Deliveries and Refit. In 2013 he purchased a 1974 Bowman 46 CORSAIR Yawl.
